and THEOLOGIES
Single Volumes tend
to be general and cursory. Good for an overview of issues and
approaches. Some are doctrinally driven (check the source); some are quite
thorough and scholarly.
Whole Sets
vary according to scholarship and
authors. They are shelved together and should not be overlooked when
browsing the individual books of the bible sections.
By Book of the Bible loosely
arrayed in the English Bible canonical order, then alphabetically by author. The
basic, most popular commentaries on separate books or groups of books of the
Bible, many are "broken up" whole sets. To be inclusive, be sure
to double-check the catalog for volumes shelved with another book of the Bible
or in whole sets. Most commentaries are duplicated in the stacks (Midrange). A greater breadth of commentaries can also be found in the
stacks. Consult the catalog or ask a reference librarian.

Generally ordered by newer and more critical commentaries followed by older or more expository ones.
Usefulness for seminary scholarship
depends on an instructor's emphasis
and the student's level of exegetical
training.
